FAQ's that new OnlyFans creators need to know

I get asked that same few questions from new or aspiring creators all the time. So I thought I would create a quick frequently asked question that new creators can check out if they are thinking of starting OnlyFans.

So here are the most frequently asked questions I get from new OnlyFans creators.

Is it possible to hide my OnlyFans account from friends and family?

Ultimately, there is no guarantee that your family and friends will not find out. OnlyFans is seen as sex work, even if you only take lingerie pictures. At the beginning of your OnlyFans journey, it is less likely for the family to find your account. However, as your OnlyFans, social media and advertising increase, so do the risk of people you know finding.

If people find out, it is impossible to know how they will react. Many will support their family. However, sometimes it does damage relationships

What is the best content to start out making?

The simple answer is you should make whatever content you want. There is the option to place pictures, video, audio or documents into your OnlyFans.

It is important that you only put up material that you are comfortable making and for other people to see. It is sensible to set your own clear limits at the beginning. Make sure your content is within those limits and never allow subscribers to bully you or offer ever-increasing sums of money for content that you are not comfortable making.

Will my future employers find out?

Just like the asking will my family find out? You need to consider your employers may find out too.

Just as before, the longer and more successful you are with OnlyFans the more likely it is that your employer or your colleagues will find out about it. For many jobs, it will be of little concern even if they were to find out. Often a little reassurance and honesty and the matter are closed.

This is important if your main job is in a profession where the employer and Governing body would take a dim view of you having an OnlyFans Account. Teachers, medical professionals, social workers all run the risk of not only losing their jobs but also being struck off from their profession and never being allowed to do that particular job again.

If you are ever in the position where your job is under threat as a result of your OnyFans please seek legal advice. If you are in the UK you can get great advice from Myles Jackman at www.mylesjackman.com

Do OnlyFans creators receive abuse or unwarranted messages?

Within the OnlyFans account, my experience has only been positive. People have paid money to come to your profile and interact with you. So, it is unlikely that they will be rude or abusive. You can read this article about staying safe on OnlyFans which explains how you can restrict and block OnlyFans users.

Sadly, from time to time you can come across abusive messages on your social media which you are linking to OnlyFans. On top of the usual male attention, your social media can attract abuse just because you link to an OnlyFans Account. You are likely to receive inappropriate messages, dick pics, treats, abuse and plain old fashioned trolling.

My advice is to have a zero-tolerance to rude or abusive messages. Always use that platform's reporting and blocking features. Just because you have chosen to earn a living this way does not mean you should not be treated with dignity and respect.

Remember - ZERO-TOLERANCE - REPORT - BLOCK - MOVE ON.

Does it open doors to other career paths?

Yes, you can earn a lot of money doing this. You can also find once you build a larger social media presence other career paths and opportunities open up to make money. Let this bring out the entrepreneur in you.

I never realised just how many people would approach me for work, podcasts, interviews and offer me money for things not linked to OnlyFans.

Can you be in a relationship whilst using OnlyFans?

Yes, you can. The vast majority of creators are in relationships and if you are not there is no reason why it would stop you from finding someone.

However, remember to be honest. If you are looking to start OnlyFans and you are in a relationship make sure you have spoken to your partner about all of it before you start. Even make them part of your OnlyFans experience. My partner takes all my pictures and does most of my social media marketing. We do this together and love it.

Just remember OnlyFans does come with some things more than just showing skin on the internet. You are launching a little business. You will have to invest a lot of time into it at the beginning. It’s unlikely to make you any real money for the first few months. Consider these as well when you talk to your partner.

As for a future partner? Some may not like it and that is fine. Just be honest and upfront and make sure they know what you do and how much time it takes. They can decide if they want you, and who does not want a famous hottie on their arm.

Let’s be real – how much should you charge, and how much do you personally earn?

You can charge a monthly subscription of up to $49. However, the average is between $8-15 per month. In addition, you can sell pictures and videos as well as make custom content. Click here to learn more about how to make money on OnlyFans.

Most creators are earning a lot less than you think. A top 10% creator is earning about $600 per month. Top 5% creator $1100 per month. However, some creators are earning over $10,000 per month with a rare few earning over $100,000 per month.

Ultimately, creators earning big money have four things in common.

  • They have been doing this for 2-3 years

  • They have built up a large social media following

  • They are consistently producing high-quality content

  • They have worked extra hard promoting their content

What advice would you have for someone thinking of starting?

Do your research. You may well be doing that right now. You need to understand that you are going to enter a competitive space. Only 2.5% of the over 1 million creators have gone on to make this their full-time job. So expect to have to work very hard. Be prepared to have to promote yourself every single day and learn a huge number of new skills.

Most importantly, don't enter it to get rich quick. Enter it because you want to enjoy creating the content and all of the other things you need to do to promote your site.

How do you promote your OnlyFans account?

OnlyFans does not promote you. You have to do all the work. Create social media such as Instagram, Twitter, Reddit, Facebook, Twitch, youtube and TikTok to help direct people to your OnlyFans.

Research and do your homework on how to get good at these. Once you start to develop a consistent uploading schedule and create content you social media fans enjoy, it’s easy enough to cross-promote to your OnlyFans.

Are there trends and varieties of content to follow?

There are every niche and fetish known to man represented on OnlyFans. My suggested recommendation to new creators is to pick a niche or fetish and stick to it.

Make sure you are familiar with OnlyFans terms of service as there are some they do not permit on the site. Blood, including menstrual blood, is banned as is anything to do with drugs, weapons and non-consensual activities.

Just like before, do your research and find something you enjoy.
